In the time that I’ve been involved with West Coast Swing, I’ve noticed that one of the more difficult things is finding where to dance. There is no central listing of all the dance clubs in an area, or lessons that are available, or even the pro dancers that teach in a particular area. Now, granted, some of these things are variable. People move, lesson times change, clubs start up and fold, but there is still a general continuity to it all, if someone takes the time to capture the information.
That is what my goal is here. I want to use a combination of searchable pages of listings, and a map to be able to find out if there are places to Go West Coast Swing, in your area. In addition, I will be expanding the site with content about West Coast Swing dancing, from the history, to the current form, the music, etiquette, lessons, WSDC, etc.
At the end of the day, or many days as the case may be, I would like this site to be a resource for two groups of people:
- Those who already know west coast swing, and happen to be traveling to a new place, moving, or just passing through, and want to find a place to dance.
- Those who have heard of West Coast Swing, and want to find a place to take lessons, or just go see what it is all about.
Hopefully you will join me on this journey, and perhaps we will run across each other on the dance floor.
